Day 5

How do you play Bombing Boys' Baseball, with 3 people?

You have two bases:  mid-base and home plate.  One person bats, one person pitches and one person is in the field.  There are no strike-outs nor walks, and every hit is good, no matter where it goes.  The bat and ball are dollar-store plastic kinds, and the ball is so light that it won't break any windows or dent any cars, and it's almost impossible to throw far.   When the batter hits, he has to run around a treed roundabout, to get to mid-base for one point or all the way around the round-about and back to homeplate for 3 points.  The other two (pitcher and fielder) try to get him out, by stepping on mid-base before batter does or tagging him out along the way.  After one turn at the bat, everyone rotates positions.  The first person to reach 13 points wins.

The Bradenator won the first game.  The ball went everywhere; sometimes it got chipped at homebase, sometimes it bounced off trees, sometimes it went into carports.   It was hard to make plays because you couldn't depend on throwing the ball to where it had to get to due to its lack of weight and the trees and bushes sometimes got in the way.  In the second game, M-boy and The Bradenator were tied at 11 and it was The Bradenator's turn at bat.  Sweat was pouring down M-boy's face as he pitched to The Bradenator.  There was a solid hit, but Mr. Timbit got it and The Bradenator was tagged out at mid-base.  Here was M-boy's chance to win the game.  He hit the ball hard and high into the tree and it stayed there.

The rule book didn't say anything about a ball stuck in a tree.  M-Boy called it a home-run and The Bradenator called it a pop fly caught by the tree.  What do you think?

After, the boys did a little crafting.  They followed this tutorial for no-sew fleece octopus, and made some cute little critters.

Then, it was lunch-time and a little bit of Wii.  This week has flown by and everyone had a blast.

Day 4

This is the start of Day 4 and we made some shadow boxes, with photos we took of each other using an Ipad and Photobooth and with some small objects. These pictures show the shadow boxes we made.

Next we cooked the vegetables we got from Kin's Farm Market on Day 2.  I made roasted okra fries (which we ate with ketchup), Bradenator made sauteed artichoke, and Mr. Timbit made chayote with egg and cheese. All of us liked mine and Mr. Timbit's dish but only Camp Leader liked The Bradenator's artichoke.  Even The Bradenator did not like his own dish!

Day 3

In the morning Mr.Timbit, M-boy and I played cribbage and I took a healthy lead.

Later on, we went for a 6 km bike ride along the Fraser river, to Byrne Road in Burnaby, where we were going to have lunch at McDonald's. On the way there, I had a bit of a wipe-out and got a big scrape on my knee so we had to stop for a few minutes and that caused a delay especially as we had to go slower due to my injury!  When we finally got to McD's, we parked our bikes and went inside for our lunch.  M-boy and I ordered a McChicken meal and Mr.Timbit got the 6pc McNugget meal.

After we finished eating, we only had 20 minutes to get home, in time for our pick-ups.  We pedalled as fast as we could, while watching out for the traffic.  Our butts and legs were sore!  Sweat ran down our backs and faces.  Another factor was that my bike doesn't have gears!   When we saw that we were going to be late,  we stopped to make a few phone calls to let our moms know.

We finally got back at 12:15 pm, and our pick-ups were there waiting.  Boy, were we hot and tired!

Day 2

Today was the second day of the Bombing Boys Club. After M-boy and Bradenator arrived, we made hand grenades out of baking soda and vinegar. We wrapped some baking soda in a paper towel and poured 3/4 cup of vinegar into a sandwich bag. We shook them together and dropped them and the ground. KABOOM! Bradenator, M-boy and I all thought it was really exciting and cool. We learned that mixing baking soda and vinegar creates a gas which is powerful enough to burst a plastic bag.

Following that activity, we headed off to Fraserview Park to run the obstacle course that we couldn't complete yesterday. On the full obstacle course, Bradenator got the shortest time. On the half  obstacle course, I got the shortest time. M- boy was so close to beating my time but he just fell ( literally) short of touching the finish line, which was a ball at the end of the playground structure.

When we got home, we finished our game of Cribbage. In the end, Bradenator won,  even though M-boy and I would catch up to him once in a while. We started another game and Bradenator is already in the lead. I have a feeling that he's becoming a card shark! Lastly, we had Kraft Dinner for lunch. I added ketchup and pepper to mine, Bradenator added pepper to his, and M-boy sprinkled salt on his. After, it was time for Bradenator and M-boy to go. I really enjoyed Day 2 of the Bombing Boys Club, and judging by what I saw, I think everyone else did too.

Mr. Timbit

Day 1

(July 9, 2012)  We have a new member and his code name is Bradenator, while Mr.Timbit, and M-boy returned from last year. In the morning we started off with a little bit of philosophy. Camp leader gave us a bunch of pictures of things from magazines. We each had to put them in order from what we thought was most beautiful to least beautiful.  We learned that people are different and that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

From there, we went to Fraserview park. We played on the zipline and started an obstacle course but we couldn't finish because other kids started playing in the playground where our obstacle course was.

After we finished playing at Fraserview Park, we headed to Kin's Farm Market where we each had to choose a vegetable we had never tried (or rarely tried) in our life. Bradenator chose an artichoke, M-boy chose okra, and Mr. Timbit chose chayote. In the car, on the way to the market, Bradenator taught us a game called Go Guma. Two people play by saying each syllable. It was very funny because someone kept getting mixed up.

When we got home, Camp Leader taught us a card game called Cribbage. Bradenator started off with a big lead however, M-boy caught up!  M-boy was 1 point behind before Camp Leader called us for lunch. For lunch we had Cheese Quesadillas they were AWESOME!
